Over the last few weeks cricket has started to return to Park View Road as all of our teams get their 2021 seasons up and running. We've seen some of our youngest colts trying cricket for the very first time and senior pro's dusting off the cobwebs after a extended winter lockdown! It's been great to see so many new & familiar faces down the club supporting BHCC.

This week saw the 1s, 2s, 3s & 4s battle the weather (with mixed fortunes) as league cricket returned.

1st XI vs Leeds & Broomfield
After a promising pre-season the 1s opened their league season against a L&B side likely to near the top of the table. After a damp & delayed start, L&B quickly got to work with a rapid opening stand (assisted by some wayward bowling). However after drinks, the BHCC bowlers & fielders produced a fine comeback with Irfan, Spud, Umar & George Monk taking regular wickets to restrict L&B to 177-9.

Optimistic about a potential upset the 1st set about their chase in cautious fashion, however a devastating opening spell from L&Bs opening bowlers saw BHCC crumble to 63 all out, with only George making a resilient 32*. Lots of areas to improve on for next week if the 1s want to be competitive in Division 3.

2nd XI vs Folkestone
The 2s entered their first league game full of confidence after a resounding victory against Orpington in their final pre-season fixture. However persistent rain on Saturday morning left PVR waterlogged & captain Sam no choice but to abandon and share the points. Next weekend the 2s face local rivals Dartford, with the hope of better weather.

3rd XI vs OD CUACO
After a disappointing defeat in their opening league fixture, the 3s were looking to bounce back in their double-header return fixture against OD CUACO. Up stepped the BHCC bowlers reducing OD CUACO to 53 all out. Ryan, Jack & Alijan all produced excellent spells, but the standout bowler was Sukhvir Mohem with an outstanding display of 6-10 off his allocated 7 overs.

A shaky start to their reply saw the 3s lose regular wickets, however some big hitting from Martin Jonker saw the team home to deserved victory and a well earned 20 points.

4th XI vs Beckenham
The 4s fell to a disappointing 10 wicket defeat to Beckenham. Only Mike Mawdsley, Tom Frisby & Will Terry managed to get into double figures as they collapsed to 62 all out. Beckenham raced to complete the chase without loss, with the 4s leaving with no points. The 4s will be hoping for better fortune next week against Old Colfe's.

Sunday XI vs Sherwood
The Sunday Friendly XI produced a commanding display to beat Sherwood. Geroge Monk & Mike Barker continued their excellent early season form with a formidable 147 parternership, with Mike scoring his debut century finishing on 108. Cruising to a 60 run victory, Louie James, Billy Hally & Alijan were the pick of the bowlers sharing 4 wickets between them.

This weekend see's the return of all 5 Saturday sides to competitive cricket. Fingers crossed the unsettled weather allows for each side to kick start their league season.
