BHCC 1st XI vs Whitstable- 3/7/2021
After a comprehensive win against Cyphers the previous week, the 1st team travelled to the Kent coast fully aware of the challenge that awaited them.
Following heavy rain over night and showers in the morning, the pitch was extremely wet, which naturally the captain looked at and decided it was a bat first wicket…
Hamish made a promising start with some lusty blows before he was caught. What followed was what can only be described as a textbook Bexleyheath batting collapse. The next few wickets fell relatively quickly for not many runs putting us in a poor position. A couple of promising cameo batting performances at the end from Ciaran and Charlie were cut short.
With the pitch drying out nicely for the second innings, we did everything we could to defend 91. Unfortunately, the batsmen chased this down with relative ease- guiding them to victory in a very similar manner that we had inflicted on Cyphers just one week before.
