Batting catastrophe

The game did not stay to plan as the oppo were 32-0 off 4 overs with Sam being dispatched for 2 sixes in two balls and surprisingly Jake finally bowled better than Sam taking an early wicket. Then Sam decided he wanted the next bat to get off the mark with a nice halve volley that was creamed at Mitchell who took a catch for the cameras.

From then on it was down hill with dropped catches and miss fields (Alijan and Bash) as their other opener made his way to 96 with Ali bowling, he was trying to hit his own toes, and the bat slapped it straight to point. The oppo ended on 264-7.

The heaths openers (Woodsy and Mitchell) had an awful opening bowler coming up the hill but somehow looked like they were struggling. Then Mitchell got bowled for 2, then said he felt good with the bat.

Woodsy and Bash were looking good before Woodsy was struck on the Thigh pad and Alijan’s finger was up before the appeal came. Archie was the new batsman and the pair were getting on nicely when Bash thought point looked bored so he decided to give him practice. Now Jonker hobbled our to bat with his trusty runner in tow but he could not muster enough to change the game and got a respectable 15.

Now the Skipper was out there in the middle batting with Archie who was going strong before Connor tried to hit the tree that was down the ground and it was short straight down long offs throat.

Alijan walked out who was now the 4th bat to join Archie who did not hang around long as he tried to get it over square leg but ended up skying it to him.

Sambo now joined Ali and made 1 run before his off stump was knocked out the ground by a spinner so that was the end of Sam who was now replaced by Jake but two runs later Ali snicked off. Ali’s innings was over.

Now out walke the big guns Jack Aldred being hidden down at ten which is much too low for the all-rounder as he ripped apart the bowling attack hitting the opening bowler for 14 in one over.

However he was bowled for 37 with two overs to go with the Heaths top scorer. Now Harry was walking out barely able to hold his bat but he and Jake managed to see it through and we ended on 201-9 off 40.

Motm and match report duties - Jack Aldred for a superb 37 with the bat and a top first spell with the ball.
