4th Win On The Bounce

The Heath won the toss and elected to bat first on a decent wicket
hoping to put 160+ on the board. A steady start by Tom F and Darren K
saw us without loss after 16 overs. Darren was solid as a rock while
the rest of the team tried to keep the score ticking over. Joe H went
in with 8 overs left before with the instruction of going for it. Some
ambitious shots saw us take the run rate up before being caught. Some
interesting running between Anthony De Silva and Chimpy kept us all on
the edges of our seats and led to ADS having to depart early. George D
and Kabir S kept the run rate going before finishing the innings on
159 for 6. Darren K scoring a stonking 83 and needed a bit of oxygen
when he c’s off as he had to run almost all 83 due to the length of
the grass in the outfield.

We took to the field with energy and a young colts bowling attack.
Jack A and George P opened the bowling and kept their run rate down.
Ali P entered the attack and started to cause the opposition all kinds
of trouble. It wasn’t long before their opener, who didn’t look like
he knew how to play Ali, was bowled for a hand full. He then carried
on an awesome display of pace bowling before claiming his second.
Kabir entered the attack before the break and was rewarded with an LBW
with his quicker Ball. By Drinks the oppo were 59 for 3 and we were
definitely on the ascendency. Some further tight bowling by Chimp,
Kabir and Jack A saw the oppo needing about 70 off the last 10. Ali
kept up the pace and took the key wicket with the worst ball he bowled
all day. Their strongest bat took a swipe at a very wide ball nicking
it to Darren K who took the catch to see the biggest threat to victory
leave the park. A mathematical error by the skipper meant he had to
bowl the 39th over with the opposition needing 20 off the last 12
balls with two wickets in hand. After being smashed for a 6 and then a
4 he was beginning to believe that he was going to do a Stokesy!!!
Thankfully the batsman got ideas of grandeur and scored down the track
played an missed and DArren K stumped him. After that Ali P took the
last over with the opposition needing 10 runs with a wicket in hand
and cleaned up the last wicket with 5 balls left to claim his 5th
wicket of the day. Two 5-ers in a row!! Kabir with a fine bowling
display taking 3 wickets, Chimpy with a very economical spell took a
wicket as did Skip. No wickets for Jack A but a very solid 10 overs
saw him only go for 31 runs.

An amazing performance by such a young team who fielded impeccably,
stayed positive throughout and gave 110%. A very proud skipper and our
4th victory in a row.
