The final hurdle

The final instalment in a quite amazing season. The unbeatable U13A team beat a very strong British Tamils touring team.

As per usual Charl lost the toss and the opposition asked us to bat first. I really need to give Charl lessons in how the coin toss works!

Due to a couple of the al conquering league team the batting order was changed, Charl and Louie opened the batting, seeing off the two good bowlers, runs were soon flowing. As has been the case for most of the season both retired on 27 and 25 respectively. Suban batting at 3 was at his belligerent best hitting the ball with fearsome power. A slight blip as run machine Artharva was run out without scoring. Bobby batted very responsibly again scoring a composed 16 but three quick wickets threatened to slow the Bexleyheath run machine. Never fear, first Abdi then Musa and finally Yuv saw the Heath through to a very respectable 164.

The British Tamils proved to be a very competent batting side, with 2 players retiring Not Out on 25. Our opening partnership of Bobby and Alfie were treated with respect but every bad ball was dispatched. Again it fell to Tommy to come on and slow the run rate. His 3 overs 1 for 5 was brilliant showing great control and huge skill in swinging the ball under pressure.

I have to mention what a great job Freddie did behind the stumps tonight, I know it wont say so on the scorecard, but he took two excellent catches this evening, neither given out, but snicko would have proved both. Great work Fred.

With Abdi, Yuv and Musa proving very difficult to score from the match was all but over. Musa was exceptional bowling 2 overs 1 for 7 at the death was awesome and with Bobby and Alfie returning to bowl the final overs the game was one.

I find it quite amazing that 3 players came in tonight tonight and put in such amazing performances is testament to the depth of ability at our age group. Brilliant work boys, really proud of you.

Finally for this season thank you for such brilliant support. You are awesome and I know the boys really appreciate it even if they dont tell you!
