Champions Again

This report is quite hard to write to be honest because I have run out of superlatives for this group of players.

They are quite exceptional, the team spirit, the ability, the will to win and the willingness to learn are quite incredible.

The game today at Loring Hall was to prove very difficult. The wicket was very low and slow and the outfield was quite frankly a disgrace. The scorecard bears witness to this with there being only 8 boundaries in the whole match. We lost the toss and strangely were asked to bat first. The dream team opened the innings again and it was evident very early that scoring runs was going to be very hard. Aniketh took 19 overs to score 25, unheard of on a normal ground. Scoring proved difficult for everyone, but a great captain's innings from Jake retiring for 27 boosted the total to a very respectable 130, thus earning us maximum batting points.

Our bowling and fielding tonight were from the top draw. The first over from Aniketh produced 2 wickets and set the example for the rest of the innings. A great spell from Musa then Artharva and Arnav kept Bexley behind the run rate. I have to mention Artharva's catch, at any level it would have been outstanding, at colt's level it was nothing short of miraculous. Everybody bowled brilliantly, Ben's keeping on a very difficult wicket was amazing and at times very brave and he was denied a great catch by some extremely dubious umpiring, (not me I hasten to add).

The final score reflects the level of commitment and self-belief this group possesses. They never give in, they don't know the meaning of defeat, and they are an exceptional group of young men.

I am extremely proud to be associated with them and to coach them and this is a season I will never forget.

I would like to finish my final report of the season by thanking all the parents, grandparents, family members and anyone else who has transported and supported the squad this season. Your support is invaluable and makes coaching the team so enjoyable.

Well played lads, I am very proud of you and deserve all the praise you receive.
