Well another good win, but again I felt we let ourselves down in our bowling display.
I fully understand that getting boys to play and concentrate for 40 overs is a tough ask and I think tonight for 26 overs we were exceptional, our batting was excellent right through considering this is the first time some people have batted this season. Then the first 6 bowling overs were very good too and then we lost concentration and focus.
When I sat and spoke to the boys at the end of the game I told them the same thing. We knew we had the game won and we switched off and then fell below our own very high standards.
Anyway, enough negativity, our batting was very good, and another great start from Atharva and Anikith the latter going through to another retirement with 25 excellently constructed runs. Our own new stalwart number 3 Alfie again proved his batting ability with another 25 retirement.
Jake, Freddie and Musa all contributed good runs allowing us to finish on an amazing 179.
Ryley again bowled a brilliant opening spell and along with Musa and then Arnav reduced Gravesend to 26 for 6. I have to say no one bowled badly, we just need to think about how we go about bowling sides out but the result was never really in doubt.
I have to again mention Ben, his keeping tonight was excellent and he improves every time we play. He has been working exceptionally hard at training and this shows, 8 byes tonight is exceptional and all of this with a very sore foot. Great work Ben very well done.
Next week will be another tough task away to Blackheath, but I know the boys will take on board what was spoken about tonight and will come back stronger next week.
Well played boys
