Old Wilsonians Away

Thursday evening saw the under 13's play their second game of the season away at old wilsonians. Tom won the toss and decided to bowl first. Tom and Rishab opened the bowling and both picked up a wicket in their first overs, bringing the opposition's best two batsmen to the crease. Both batsmen made it to double figures before Zak picked up a wicket in his second over to break the small partnership. Aashaya (auto corrected to Hahaha) picked up the second of these two batsmen and once he was out with the score on 47 only 1 other batsman scored any runs off the bat. The opposition ended up all out for 78 with Lewis taking a wicket and getting a run out, Luca taking 2 wickets and Zak finishing the innings with a run out ( we were only playing against 10 again). Of the 78 runs scored only 27 came off the bat with 51 extras, so obviously this is something the boys need to work on for future matches along with field placing.

Gunvir and Sahil opened the batting with the boys needing 79 to win. Unfortunately Sahil was bowled in the second over bringing Luca to the crease, these 2 stayed together until the eighth over when Gunvir was bowled with the score on 25. Aashaya was next in and these two took the score onto 44 before Luca was out caught for 15. Next in was Zak and for the first time in the innings there was some urgency to the batting and running, looking for singles as well as the big shots that previous batsmen had been trying. For a lot of the innings it looked like we weren't scoring fast enough until this partnership and with the 15th and 16th overs being hit for 15 and 7 it put the boys back as firm favourites for the win. Old wilsonians brought back their opening bowler and picked up the wickets of both Zak for 17 and Aashaya for 13, this left Adam and Lewis to finish the run chase and claim their first win of the season.

A comfortable enough win in the end which could of been made so much easier if the extras were reduced and our batsmen looked for the 1's and 2's instead of looking for the big boundary shots.
