The Win has finally come Home

Well I was starting to despair this season and then from the ashes arose one of the best team performances I have been involved with in all my years of coaching.

Considering the quality of the opposition this performance was even more remarkable. Every player contributed to the result, every player was involved in some way or another and the team spirit was incredible.

The players will have learnt hugely from this match and the way they performed under huge pressure at the end was exceptional, although the coach has even more grey hair now.

So to the details of the game. Stand in Captain Abi won the toss and confidently decided to bat. It couldnt have started any worse with run machine Artharva being bowled first ball by a fast swinging yorker. Brogan played very solidly at the other end blunting the opening burst from the Gravesend opening bowlers. He was the next man out which brought together Mr Dependable Louie and debutant Rohan and they immediately took the attack to the bowlers with both retiring Not Out on 28 and 27 respectively. This brought together Capt Abi and Bobby who played shots all round the wicket both finishing Not Out.

The Gravesend reply got off to a quick start before the rains came which made bowling and fielding very difficult. However after the opening spells from Bobby and Artharva had kept things pretty much in check Rohan came on for his first spell. He induced a false shot from the Gravesend capt and Oliver took a brilliant catch behind the stumps.

The other opener retired on 27 and then our bowlers took over. Great spells from Louie who took a great caught and bowled and Jack who bowled three very impressive and miserly overs and the Heath were on top.

Ever bowler played a part in this victory but i think the game was won in the field, the team work and spirit were brilliant, no one giving up on a chase. Another stumping for Oliver, a good catch from Brogan, a couple of Run Outs and it came down to Capt Abi to bowl the final over with 12 needed to win. A great over under huge pressure meant the Heath finally won by 2 runs.

I have never been prouder of a team I have coached, they have never given up this season and the players that came in tonight proved the depth we have in the club.
