Sunday morning greeted the teams with a bitterly cold wind, the kind that bites straight through your layers and makes every catch sting. Despite the tough conditions, spirits were high as Bexleyheath won the toss, and our captain made a confident call to bat first.

Bexleyheath Batting – Bright Start, Tough Test
The innings kicked off in style as Atharava fired two quick fours, cutting through the outfield and giving Bexleyheath early momentum. But Beckenham’s bowlers soon found their rhythm, delivering challenging spells on a pitch that offered awkward, uneven bounce.
Aniketh was the first wicket to fall, followed shortly by Atharava as the pressure built. Then came a moment of drama, as Suchet was given out lbw, a decision that Suchet strongly disagreed with, but the umpire’s finger went up.
The conditions and pitch continued to cause problems. Oliver was beaten by a cleverly spun delivery, and Jake followed in the 9th over, misjudging a leg‑stump ball he thought could be smashed to the boundary. Ben came in at number 6 and stewarded the rest of team, scoring 9 not out, including a ball being smashed to the boundary in defiance!
Even when free hits were awarded, Beckenham showed real quality, delivering them low and straight at the stumps. The cold was relentless, the wind unforgiving, and the bowlers gave nothing away.
Anthony responded brilliantly to a full toss, but once again the reply from Beckenham was immediate and ruthless. Forced onto the back foot, Anthony stepped back onto his own stumps leaving Bexleyheath struggling at 43 for 6.
The wickets kept tumbling. Dayal slipped while running and was run out, Azaan edged one straight into the wicketkeeper’s gloves, and somehow Noah survived their returning opening bowler, even with two wides in the over adding late tension, stating "At least I didn't get out!".
Bexleyheath were all out, setting Beckenham a target of just 65 runs.

Bexleyheath Fielding – Electric Start, Relentless Pressure
Bexleyheath came out to field with real energy, and it showed immediately. Jake and Aniketh opened the bowling, and the start couldn’t have been better.
Jake struck with pure lightning and precision, removing the opener inside the first six balls. One wicket down almost instantly. Aniketh followed up with sharp, tight bowling. Then another perfect ball from Jake, and suddenly Beckenham were 15 for 2.
Azaan then entered the attack, bowling quick and accurate spells, while Noah switched roles and delivered a spell of spin, backed up by excellent field placements and amazing diving & resilience from Ben in the wicket, that shut down easy runs.
Jaiden joined the attack, also with spin, and although it proved expensive, the pressure never fully lifted. Then came a huge moment with Noah striking twice in a single over, keeping Bexleyheath firmly in the contest.
With only 12 runs needed from 36 balls, the boys kept going. In the 15th over, Suchet found the batter's edge, and the ball was nicked and caught behind, bringing cheers from the field.

Final Result
The match was all over by the end of the 15th over, with Beckenham CC reaching the 65 runs required in a game full of intensity, effort, & memorable moments and all played in freezing conditions. ?
