3rd colt tie this season

e arrived at the ground after the long trek to Hayes with all the hope of securing a top 4 finish. It was a hot muggy day in Hayes and when we arrived we headed out to check the strip. It wasn’t looking great and looked as though it would be a low scoring game with the only plus being the incredibly short boundary towards the club house. Shrendog took the short walk to the square to do the toss praying to win for just the second time this season shockingly he won and chose to bat.

Shrenick and Dowlers opened the batting with Dowlers getting his chance up the order. They got us off to an impressive start with the run rate ticking nicely and then Dowlers managed to snick off to 2nd slip got dropped and got 6 runs from it that will most likely be his one and only 6. Unfortunately Dowlers got caught lbw with a sharp delivery from the opening bowler dismissing him for a well made 11. This brought Meggsy to the crease perhaps abit earlier than expected but shrenick and Meggsy continued to rotate strike as the Heath continued to build an innings. However shrenick soon fell and the heath were stuck on 26-2, with a bit of rebuilding after the loss of early wickets shrenick had played well for his 8. In strolled George Palmer with a point to prove as he once again was batting up the order at 4. However after a glorious cut shot he snicked one to the shaky hand of their keeper much to his annoyance, however had batted well for his 6. This brought in Sulove who was looking to get his eye in as the opposition brought on the spinners. The pitch really wasn’t turning however the spinners were bowling tight lines with only a few boundaries coming from them with Meggsy and sulove ticking over the runs. Sulove played a nice shot to the short boundary but through a glorious direct hit was dismissed for an unlucky 2. The heath has some rebuilding to do again but the wickets kept tumbling due to the tight bowling and impatient running from Meggsy. There was a short show from Subo smacking a useful 6 runs in quick succession with Meggsy chipping in with some boundary’s. However the overs were ticking by and the heath were 85-7. Subos cameo ended and brought in a young Adam who showed some superb technique getting incredibly unlucky with some good fielding from the opposition. Meggsy’s innings finally came to an end with a lovely Yorker from the opening bowler leaving him 4 short of retirement on 46.

The heath struggled to score runs in the remaining overs and ended on 97 leaving the opposition to chase 98.

The heath came out to bowl with a lot of hope thinking they were just on a par score on a slow wicket such as this one. Shrenick opened up down the hill bowling a wide ball going for 4 off the very first ball. However brought in his line and took the openers wicket with a glorious delivery. Sulove Bowled up the hill and begun with a lovely maiden applying pressure to the bats men. Shrenick continued and took another important wicket in his second over with another superb delivery too quick for the batsmen. The pair continued the tight bowling with the pressure building. Dowlers came on and bowled a tight spell and fault through a painful foot as Shrenick chose to save one over of himself and bowled Sulove out for great figures. However the opposition built a good partnership before George made the break through with a questionable lbw. However the runs kept ticking but Beeling, subo picking up a wickwt each leaving the opposition chasing 13 off of 3 overs. Shrenick bowled an incredible over and took another wicket with George bowling a rare tight over at the end leaving the opposition needing 5 off the final over. Beeling to bowl unfortunately the first ball was a wide giving the opposition hope but he tightened his line and through some questionable techniques from the non strike bat left them needing 2 off the last ball after a sharp piece of fielding from subo leading to a run out. The last ball was a good one but through a lucky leg bye they scampered through for the draw much to the oppositions delight.

We had to feel happy as at one point the task was looking impossible but the never die attitude kept us going and we secure a top 4 finish in the league. Onto Dartford next week in the knockout stage.
